COURT APPOINTED COUNSEL
The LEX Group proudly assists court appointed counsel in all courts served. The quality of our product and service is in no way influenced by the status of counsel.
VIRGINIA APPELLATE COURTS
- The Supreme Court of Virginia
- The Court of Appeals of Virginia
- We bill the Virginia appellate courts directly for all of our services. The size of the job and the invoice does not determine whether or not we can bill these courts directly.
UNITED STATES COURTS OF APPEALS
- Billing policies vary from circuit to circuit by Local Rule. Our ability to bill courts directly is contingent upon court policy.
- For instance:
We bill the Fourth Circuit directly in all CJA matters where the invoice is in excess of $100. This typically covers all opening briefs and joint appendices. Smaller filings, such as reply briefs, are generally under $100. By Local Rule, we must bill our clients for all invoices under $100. Counsel can submit invoices under $100 on their CJA vouchers for reimbursement.
CJA matters to the United States Supreme Court on appeal from the Fourth Circuit are also billed directly to the court under the same $100 invoice rule.
Please note, Admissions Forms for Counsel proceeding in forma pauperis are unnecessary in the United States Supreme Court.
Please contact us regarding the court appointed billing procedures for the circuit in which you practice. We look forward to assisting you.
